HIGHLIGHTS OF PROGRAM:
CAKE (Cooking & Agriculture Kitchen Experience) camp will be conducted June 4th –June 10th and will 9th thru 12th grade high school girls to be exposed to aspects of the hospitality and agricultural industry including entrepreneurship, nutrition, job readiness and other areas that will assist in their decision of a college major. Currently only 33% of restaurant businesses are majority-owned by women. Women in the food industry also earn 28% less in base pay than their male-counterparts. This camp will include courses in food, as well as incorporate skills in math, science, and nutrition and will assist young girls in reaching their full potential. This program will incorporate agriculture, with a day on the farm and a focus on farm to table concepts. The program would also expose best business practices including entrepreneurship, design concepts and culminating with a competition.
